Kyla and Austin met while attending the University of Connecticut in 2008, and they began dating in 2009. Together they made the leap and moved to California in 2011, where they now reside in Santa Monica. In 2016, they traveled home to New England for Christmas. While in Newport, Rhode Island, Austin popped the question!
Kyla and Austin wanted to have a private legal ceremony prior to the big day, so vows were exchanged at the Santa Barbara courthouse. They still envisioned a wedding ceremony, and since the legal end was complete, they got to be creative. An officiant was not needed--instead they wrote their own ceremony, so they could share their love and gratitude for those closest to them. For an extra special sentiment, they included their bridal party in warming their rings.
For dinner the most romantic floral theme was created by using naked wood tables, adorned with assorted vintage glass bottles that delicately contained single stem flowers, surrounded by loose, locally foraged eucalyptus greens. Everything about their day was perfect: the gentle trickle of the waterfall garden, the view of The Ojai Pink Moment sunset from the reception terrace, the delicious Spanish-inspired dinner, hours of dancing to a full brass band, Lucky Devils, and fresh made donuts from Dazzling Donuts to top off the evening!
